Meditation

Yogananda Self-Realization Fellowship was founded by the Indian mystic and spiritual teacher Paramahansa Yogananda. The website offers a plethora of information on meditation, Kriya Yoga, spiritual living, self-developmen and more. It includes rare recordings of lectures by Yogananda, guided meditations you can listen to online, as well as addresses to YSF centers all over the world.

Silent Retreat

Dayspring Silent Retreat Center is set in the rolling forests and fields of the Maryland countryside. It is a sacred place set aside for silence, solitude, reflection and prayer. 210 acres of land invite the visitor to wander the paths, contemplate the streams and ponds, rest on a bench in the shade, or walk the stone labyrinth. The center offers individual as well as group retreats at affordable rates.

Spirit World

The Spirit World: Descriptions by Early Spiritualists by the Rev. Barbara N. Starr is her Master's Thesis about the Spirit World as described by Spiritualist mediums. It is an extensive and detailed literature review. Excellent, fascinating, and highly recommended!

Spiritualism

The National Spiritualist Association of Churches (NSAC) is the oldest and largest organization of Spiritualism in the United States. The NSAC website provides information about Spiritualism including its history, beliefs, definitions, principles, nationwide church directory and more.

Morris Pratt Institute is the educational arm of the NSAC and offers the Educational Course on Modern Spiritualism.

The International Spiritualist Federation offers week-long classes and a weekend seminar in various aspects of mediumship. Venue varies annually between a number of international destinations. The 2012 meetings will be held in England.

Spiritualist Churches in the Washington D.C. Area

The Center for Spiritual Enlightenment (CSE) is located in Falls Church, Virginia. The CSE offers a weekly Sunday morning healing meditation & devotional service.

Scientific Studies of Spiritualism

Dr. Gary E. Schwartz is a Professor of Psychology, Medicine, Neurology, Psychiatry, and Surgery at the University of Arizona. He is the author of The Afterlife Experiments. His newest book The Sacred Promise: How Science Is Discovering Spirit's Collaboration with Us in Our Daily Lives establishes the existence of Spirit by its own Willful Intent.
